easy4 min totalPrep: 4mCook: 0mServes: 1
When you need protein fast and have nothing prepped, a tin of tuna and a pitta bread are all you need. This is not an aspirational meal — it's a reliable backstop for when cooking is off the table and you need to hit your macros.
Ingredients
- 1 wholemeal pitta bread
- 1 x 145g tin tuna in spring water, drained
- ¼ cucumber, diced
- 1 tbsp light mayonnaise
- 1 tsp hot sauce or lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper
Method
- Toast the pitta bread.
- Mix the tuna with mayo, hot sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Split the pitta open and fill with the tuna mixture and cucumber.
- Eat immediately.
Pro Tip
Keep a 4-pack of tuna tins in your kitchen cupboard at all times. They're the highest-protein, lowest-calorie convenience food available and require no refrigeration until opened. A pitta bread takes 60 seconds to toast.
Nutrition Notes
This meal takes under 5 minutes and provides 30g of protein — enough to meaningfully contribute to your daily target. The pitta provides a moderate amount of carbohydrates from wholemeal flour. Light mayo keeps fat low.
